WOMOM
This is a portrait of my wife as many colors of women.
The background is a feminine comic strip with a variety of characters of different nationalitys, with a red cross positioned at the center. Sculpted steel forms at the bottom third of the panel are the negative space of lettering spelling out WOMOM. I chose to use the letters' womom to represent feminine humans as most titles tie the feminine as a sub reference of the male. The separation from this is part of an idea about placing all humans on the same level. the red cross referrers to the urgency of this subject and a reference to menstruation, childbearing and the importance of feminine health and control over their own bodies.
