The ONE DOLLAR note has the most interesting engraving of all the note of the federal reserve. FRN is inspired from the upper right corner of the $1 note. Though as commonly seen on a day to day basis, very few recognize this as a currency icon, alternatively relating it to the interstate icon. The background panel is distressed which relates to the abuse of the dollar, the '$' character is not part of the idea behind this piece, as it is about the energy behind the dollar. A concept of money being an entity in which people have a relationship with, that can be nurtured or abused. This relationship can flourish or be a burden. The process of building the work is a process of matching the contours by hand forming 10 gauge (.100" thickness) sheet Aluminium. Once all the edges components are fit to the surface piece, they are tacked in proper position. When proper alignment has been checked and adjustments are made, the entire internal and external periphery are then TIG welded. Now the laborious process of sanding the welds , and polishing the edges to appear as a single piece sheet of Aluminium.
